A showcase of 10 of the most internationally in-demand Black and Asian poets in the UK, in a special event from Poetry International in collaboration with The Complete Works. Presented by British-Caribbean poet Malika Booker and Nigerian poet playwright Inua Ellams, this selection brings together voices energising and challenging the contemporary poetry scene and shaping its future.
Featruing: Raymond Antrobus, Yomi Sode, Degna Stone, Momtaza Mehri, Leo Boix, Ian Humphreys, Will Harris, Omikemi Bryan, Jennifer Lee Tsai, and Victoria-Anne Bulley.
The evening celebrates the publication of the Bloodaxe anthology, Ten: Poets of the New Generation, edited by Karen McCarthy Woolf. The culmination of the third Complete Works Poetry, a national organisation founded by writer and activist Bernardine Evaristo, that has played a key role in raising the level of diversity in major British presses from less than 1% to 14% over the last 10 years. This is now one of the most successful diversity initiatives in the history of British arts.
